Pools are built as two separate structures due to soil movement, and mastic is the sealant that is put between the pool and the deck to stop the penetration of water between the two structures.

Question: Why Do I Need Pool Mastic?

Answer: You need it because if water gets in between your coping stones and the decking, it will germinate the weed seeds and you would have ugly weeds growing next to your pool & decking! The sealant prevents this from taking place. Also the intrusion of water in the winter month's can be very damaging if the trapped water freezes, it could cause your coping stone to dislodge due to the expansion of the water during the freezing process.

Question: How Often Do I Have To Replace the Mastic for My Pool?

Answer: When ever it gets so UGLY and you can't stand it or you have disposable income to replace it when it first fails.

Because of the weather and environmental conditions, primarily expansion and contraction of the joint, all pool mastics are impermanent until now. Replacing the mastic around your pool needed to be done every 2 to 3 years as preventative maintenance - due to the fact that 2-part epoxy’s are NOT MAINTAINABLE you must replace the intire seal.
